Description

The Dona Refuge is located in Val di Dona, on the side of Fassa, from the latter it is not noticeable as a steep wood jealously guards the access, a green gem that has survived because it was forgotten by the Fassa people themselves, it extends in the furrow of two still intact ridges, the green dominates uncorrupted, everywhere, until the profiles of the crests meet the blue of the sky. A stream takes strength together with the valley, the eagles fly over aware of having no enemies and even the vipers, up there, lying in the hot sun, seem harmless. The modest peaks of Ponjin and Docioril, minor offshoots, almost hills, reveal themselves to be places of boundless and strategic views. Nothing added, nothing bad, all the descriptions of the mountains like that? The Val Di Dona is one of the hidden jewels of Fassa, until the early 1900s the population of Mazzin moved up here for haymaking, the small refuge was built by renovating a tabià and inaugurated in 2007, has a bar and restaurant, for the night it is advisable to bring a sleeping bag.
