Description

The S.A.T. Brentari is a convenient presence just a few minutes from the southern wall dotted with towers, favorably exposed to the sun. On the southern bastion of Cima d'Asta there are about thirty routes that have been opened since 1952. In recent years the love and passion of the local alpine guides and refugee refugees who have taken turns running the refuge have increased and re-launched the mountaineering and sporting interest in this area. More info in the guide LAGORAI CIMA D'ASTA (climbing on the granite of the Dolomites) Editions Versante Sud.Conz-Tomio. An excellent book for hikers looking for new experiences is undoubtedly: "CIMA D'ASTA - Proposals for alternative hiking" Gioppi-Vitlacil

Main excursions

The compact and slender architectures of the Cima d'Asta, formed by solid granite, combined with massive and homogeneous conformations such as the slabs, the dihedrals, the edges, the cracks, give the mountaineers the keystone for performances so different from those to which they are used to in the “Dolomites”. The type of climbing that these walls require involves progressions with interlocking crack techniques, slab adherence, passages on small notches and splits in the dihedrals. Every climber's dream! In addition, another fundamental feature: here the mountaineer is out of the usual queues of the classic "fashionable" routes of the Dolomites and can enjoy the privileged atmosphere of the pioneering age, the silence of places that have remained secluded. EXCURSIONS Taking advantage of the support point constituted by the Brentari Refuge, in the morning (after a comfortable sleep and a hearty breakfast) you face the ascent to the peak that overlooks it; it is worth it to enjoy the vast panorama: all of the Lagorai to the north and the Tesino basin to the south which slopes gently towards the Valsugana, among verdant pastures and endless slabs of metamorphic rocks. It truly feels like being on top of a "crystalline island", as it was defined at the end of the 19th century by the first geologists who became passionate about and spread the knowledge of the geological peculiarities of Cima d'Asta. – Ascent to the Cima d'Asta in two days, staying overnight at the refuge, tackling the further 400m that lead to Zimon, the summit at 2847m, early in the morning. – Day excursion for the fittest. TREKKING Giro del Zimon: two-day circular trek. – Alta Via del Granito: three-day ring trek between Sorgazza Cima d'Asta Cimon Rava and Caldenave. It can be done in both directions: green tour (counterclockwise) or orange tour (clockwise). Times: Giro Verde – first day 3 hours, second day 7 hours, third day 5 hours. For info on the route, visit the website www.altaviadelgranito.com. Trekking included in the Translagorai route. Route included in the project "La Montagna Racconta". – Lagorai Panorama: four-day ring trek. For info on the route, visit the website www.lagoraipanorama.altervista.org. CLIMBING The peculiarity of Cima d'Asta consists in the quality of the rock: it is a singular granite island in the Dolomites and in the Eastern Alps in general. – Climbing on the south face of the Cima d'Asta. DIVING The alpine lake, 38 m deep which fills a glacial basin under the edge on which the refuge stands, the deepest in Europe at these altitudes. The unique opportunity for study and science is immersion in this splendid lake. WINTER SPORTS Ski mountaineering and ice climbing in the winter season.
