Description

The Casera Tragonia Refuge is located at 1760 meters above sea level in a large valley on the southern side of the Val Tagliamento. It is a typical Alpine construction which now functions as a refuge and refreshment for tourists and hikers and enjoys a magnificent view of the Friulian Dolomites, in particular the Cridola and Monfalconi groups, which at sunrise light up with the typical pink color of Dolomites: THE ENROSADIRA. It can be easily reached by MTB from Forni di Sopra along the forest road that starts from the small square of the old town hall (next to the Central Hotel), or on foot following the splendid CAI 209 path passing through the splendid "Val di Laur" or following the CAI path 223 via “Ciabias”. It can also be reached from Casera Razzo and Sauris. It is open from June to September with half board service. It has 16 complete beds with pillows, blankets and sheets and some emergency places in the adjacent bivouac; bathrooms with hot shower; 30 seats in the lounge with typical mountain cuisine and 30 seats outside with a breathtaking view of the Carnic Alps and the Dolomites. Inside, the large "cjaldiera" for making cheese, built in 1892, which can contain 500 liters of milk, is still in place.

Management / Ownership

Tommaso Lizzi: I grew up among the hills and the Friulian Dolomites, always outdoors. I am passionate about travel, adventures, outdoors, nature and healthy food. I spent a lot of time traveling around the world, from Europe to New Zealand, from Australia to Asia, from Canada to Alaska to Patagonia. During these trips I learned a lot about myself and the world, coming into contact with different realities and ways of living. But above all I learned from Nature, slowly observing it with curiosity, immersing myself in it with an open heart. This experience taught me to live it and look for it every day, mostly on foot and in silence, but also by canoe and bicycle. I have always carried a couple of books with me in my backpack: Terzani, Jack London, Herman Hesse, Kerouac, Rigoni Stern, travel volumes, adventures, stories of real life, explorations and discoveries. I am a medium mountain guide registered with the FVG Alpine Guide College and a nature survival instructor. For the last 4 years I have passionately managed the Giaf refuge in the Friulian Dolomites. I am happily married to Elisa and they just had a baby girl.

Camilla Ferigo: Born and lived in Forni di Sopra, she has always been passionate about nature and animals since she was a child.
I am graduating in master's degree in protection and well-being and this course of study has allowed me to gain an in-depth knowledge of the world of wild animals and their protection, allowing me to get to know a new side of my mountains. For a year now I have been sharing my days with my dog Aspen, a faithful adventure companion who will also accompany me in this new venture: for me, managing this mountain hut is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
