The Paolo Daviso refuge is located in the Valli di Lanzo (To) at an altitude of 2,280 metres, in the upper Gura valley which centrally affects the terminal amphitheater of the upper Val Grande di Lanzo. Reachable in three hours of walking starting from Forno Alpi Graie (60 km from Turin) along the excellent path no. 315, it is a privileged base for mountaineering and hiking in the Gura - Martellot and Levanne groups. The refuge is open on weekends from mid-June to mid-September and continuously from the end of July to the beginning of September. There are 24 beds available for guests, 6 of which in the winter room. Managed by the CAI section of Venaria Reale since 1962, the Daviso refuge has undergone various expansions and modernization interventions over the years, placing itself today as an equipped and welcoming structure that has not lost the characteristics and atmosphere of the typical "alpine refuge".
Read everythingBy car: from the Turin ring road, take the Borgaro exit and at the roundabout take the Venaria-Borgaro variant (sp1). Continue on the direct Valli di Lanzo road as far as Pessinetto. At the traffic light, turn right following the signs for Cantoira - Chialamberto (altitude 850 m.). Continue and reach the town of Forno Alpi Graie (altitude 1226 m.). At the end of the road, turn left into the narrow passage and park your car before the bridge over the Gura (63 km from turin). On the right, after the bridge, follow the well signposted path n. 315. Difficulty: E. Walking time 3.00 hours. By public transport: "Turin - Ceres" line from Turin (Porta Milano, corso Giulio Cesare, 15) to Germagnano and Ceres, from here bus services to the Upper Val Grande di Lanzo with terminus in Forno Alpi Graie. CROSSINGS: “Sentiero Duca degli Abruzzi”. From the Paolo Daviso Hut 2280 metres, via Colle della Piccola 2698 meters and Colle di Nel 2551 metres, to the Guglielmo Jervis Hut 2250 m: Difficulty: EE in the section from Col di Fea to Colle della Piccola, then E. Elevation gain: 902 meters in total but with considerable displacement. Ascent time: 6.40 am. Recommended period: from the end of June to September. Punta Girard 3262 metres, traverse of the west and north-northwest ridges, Passo dell'Arc 3197 metres, Col di Fea 2608 metres. Notes: beautiful climb, which with the traverse proposed here becomes complete and very rewarding. First ascent: Punta Girard was probably reached by some local hunters on an unspecified date, while the first mountaineering traverse was the work of L.Vaccarone, A.Bogiatto and A.
