The Osteria Alpina is a welcoming refuge located 850 meters high in the heart of Val Codera, an ideal place for a walk in the world of granite and for a relaxing stop on the path of the Path of Rome, the Path of Italy or the Via Geoalpina, in a strategic for circular routes with the nearby valleys. The refuge, open all year round, is located in the center of Codera, a suggestive and secluded village out of time, with granite houses, permanently inhabited by a handful of valley dwellers, without road access and therefore reachable only on foot in about two hours from Novate Mezzola, or even in the Cycloalpine, through the Tracciolino path, from Verceia. The Osteria, in operation since 1935, offers bar service and home cooking, with traditional mountain recipes with locally sourced ingredients, in a large dining room, heated by the fireplace in the cold months, and has heated rooms provided with linen and blankets and bathroom with shower and hot and cold running water. Outside, the tables shaded by the American grape pergola invite you to stop and offer a beautiful glimpse of the village and the valley, in the presence of the imposing Sasso Manduino.

The path that climbs into Val Codera starts from the town of Novate Mezzola (Sondrio), located at the northern end of Lake Como, in correspondence with Lake Mezzola. It is easily accessible by car from Milan following the S.S. N ° 36, or comfortably also by train: you arrive at Colico station and from there take the connection to Novate Mezzola which is about 15 minutes away. From Novate station, you can reach the beginning of the path by car or on foot in 15 minutes. To get to the start of the path, proceed for a short distance along the S.S. N ° 36, leaving the Novate railway station on your left. At the first intersection, turn right into via Ligoncio (at the pharmacy level) going up the slope and ignoring the side branches. When you reach a dirt square that serves as a parking area (Castello locality), you will notice the signs for Codera on the left, at the beginning of the path. Have a good walk everyone!
To get from Verceia it is useful to take the forest road (toll for cars) that goes up from Verceia to Tracciolino; from here follow the track on the left which, with an aerial route, tunnels and bridges, enters at a constant altitude in Val Codera; in sight of Codera it is necessary to go left to cross two ancient arched bridges and reach Codera on the opposite side.
