Main excursions

BEAUTIFUL TREKKING IN THE BEAUTIFUL AND WILD VAL D'AMBIEZ
The Val d'Ambiez is a valley that has made the history of mountaineering and is the main gateway to the peaks of the southern sector of the Brenta Group. Engraved by the waters of the Rio Ambiez, it begins narrow and nestled between rocky walls and then suddenly opens up and the view is lost among the pastures and the most famous Dolomite spiers, today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The towers and walls with absolute verticality have become famous worldwide. Using the convenient jeep taxi service departing from San Lorenzo in Banale, you can comfortably climb along the first part of the Val d'Ambiez, reaching the Rifugio Al Cacciatore. From here you can enjoy a wonderful view. Then continue on foot until you arrive at the Agostini Refuge (2405 masl). You can follow two different paths, the simplest and most panoramic path is the path 325, about 2.3 km long, while the second route, the path 325B, is slightly longer and more difficult but equally practicable. Once you reach the Agostini refuge the view is truly breathtaking! Route details: Length 6.2 km Duration 3:15 h. Ascent 565 m Descent 565 m.

FOSSIL CEMETERY
Less than thirty minutes from the refuge, there is a deposit of fossils dating back to around 200 million years ago. This geological treasure testifies to the presence, in its time, of the tropical sea and the organisms that inhabited it, before the Alps were formed. In this field of rock furrowed with karren - karst furrows - large shells stand out among random shapes, namely the medalodon, a bivalve mollusc that lived between 200 and 400 million years ago.

Management / Ownership

Hi, I'm Luca. I have previously managed the Capanna Ghiappello refuges in Marmolada and the Maddalene refuge in Val di Non. Lover of life in the mountains and in the woods, I am happy to share my passion with those who know how to appreciate or want to discover the beauties of nature at high altitude. If you are looking for advice on local excursions, simplicity and irony, we are waiting for you at the refuge!
